PRETTYPLASTIC BV

Cladding of recycled plastic

Pretty Plastic produces cladding material of plastic waste that looks good, is safe to use and easy to install, and will last forever. From trash to tile! Pretty Plastic contributes to a circular economy in which waste doesn't exist and resources can be used over and over again.

In 2015, Reinder Bakker and Hester van Dijk (Overtreders W) together with Peter van Assche (bureau SLA) got hold of a shipping container full of plastic household waste. Immediately they saw the beauty of this waste material. "Can we make a precious building material out of this trash?" they asked themselves. Discarded shampoo bottles would get a more beautiful second life than ever before! To reveal the possibilities of waste plastic, they built their own plastic recycling factory.

5 years and some pilot projects later, Pretty Plastic BV (ltd.) is now a fact. At the beginning of 2020, the first permanent building (designed by Grosfeld Bekkers van der Velde Architects) that has a facade of PrettyPlastic shingles was completed. The tiles can now be ordered worldwide. In 2021 some eye-catching projects with a PrettyPlastic cladding are due for completion.
